Jakarta, KOMPAS.com – PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk is strengthening its funding structure by relying on growth in cheap funds and increased digital transaction activity. The strategy was disclosed by BRI’s chief executive Hery Gunardi as part of the company’s transformation to maintain cost-efficient funding and stable bank liquidity.

The move is being carried out through optimisation of digital services, strengthening the payments ecosystem, and the development of transaction banking services for segments from retail to corporate.

BRI’s President Director Hery Gunardi said the transformation is part of the BRIVolution Reignite programme being run by the company.

“BRI is undertaking a transformation of its Funding Franchise aimed at strengthening the company’s funding structure,” Hery said in a written statement on Thursday (5 March 2026).

The group is also deepening service penetration across business clusters to widen the transaction base while reinforcing funding mobilisation.

In the retail segment, strengthening is pursued through the development of the BRImo SuperApp and the expansion of the payments ecosystem. Increased transaction activity via digital channels has also driven growth in the app’s user base.

As of December 2025, BRImo users reached 45.9 million, up 18.9% year on year. The value of transactions through the app stood at Rp 7,076.9 trillion, up 26.4% YoY.

As of December 2025, active Qlola users reached 113,000, up 48.1% YoY. In the same period, sales volume rose 36.2% YoY to Rp 13,456 trillion.

Separately, BRI expanded merchant payment acceptance. This pushed merchant sales volume up 48.1% YoY to Rp 223.2 trillion.

QRIS transactions with BRI also posted a significant jump. The value of QRIS transactions rose 100% YoY to Rp 85.6 trillion, while the number of transactions surged 127.5% YoY to more than 782 million transactions.

By the end of 2025, BRI’s third-party funds grew 7.4% YoY to Rp 1,467 trillion, with CASA ratio at 70.6%.

At the same time, the cost of funds improved to 2.9%, down from 3.1% at end-2024.

Hery said BRI will continue to develop transaction banking capabilities by strengthening digital channels and enhancing services for business merchants.

“These achievements underscore that the BRIVolution Reignite transformation underway not only strengthens the base of cheap funds but also expands an inclusive digital payments ecosystem for all segments of society,” he said.
