Ahead of Eid al-Adha, Brebes Regency in Central Java officially launched the Sadesa Juleha movement (One Village, One Halal Slaughterer). The launch coincided with the opening of the Juleha Competency Certification for the Bank Indonesia (BI) Tegal Regional Office, and was held in the sixth-floor hall of the Integrated Governance Office (KPT) of Brebes Regency on Monday, 18 May 2026.

The programme marks a strategic step to widen the presence of certified Juleha workers to the village level and to strengthen the halal ecosystem in the western Pantura region of Central Java. A total of 44 participants from Brebes, Tegal City and Regency, Pemalang, Pekalongan City and Regency, Batang, Indramayu, and Cirebon City attended the three-day training, which included two days of theory and one day of hands-on slaughtering practice at the Jatibarang Green Open Space (RPH Jatibarang) and RPH Ketanggungan in Brebes.

Brebes Regent Paramita Widya Kusuma said the launch of the Sadesa Juleha movement is a milestone in strengthening human resources in the halal sector. “Brebes is taking the lead as a pioneer of the one village, one Juleha movement following competency certification. This is a commitment to ensure every village has a competent and certified halal slaughterer,” she said.

Paramita also praised the Brebes DPD Juleha for actively educating the public through mosques, schools, pesantren, and universities, as part of supporting the national target of full halal certification by October 2026. “Juleha Brebes has produced more than a thousand halal slaughterers through various trainings. Dozens are nationally certified and have job opportunities at home and abroad,” she noted.

She added that Juleha in Brebes is already protected by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, ensuring workers’ welfare. “This shows that Brebes can be a beacon for Juleha in Indonesia,” she said. “However, we will continue to push for greater participation across regions. Through the Sadesa Juleha movement, we aim for skills to reach every village with protection and job security for Juleha workers.”

BI Tegal Representative Bimala said the economy and sharia finance play a strategic role in supporting national growth. Indonesia ranks third worldwide in the Global Islamic Economy Indicator (GIEI) 2025. He noted ongoing challenges in developing the halal value chain, sharia finance, and improving literacy in Islamic economics, and that BI continues to strengthen the Halal Value Chain through programmes including training and Juleha competency certification. “Through these activities, participants gain understanding of halal slaughter procedures in line with Islamic law and the applicable competency standards,” Bimala added.

He expressed hope that the synergy between BI, DPD Juleha Brebes, and the Brebes Regency Government will reinforce a sustainable halal ecosystem, while increasing public trust in halal products and enhancing community welfare. The participants will receive certificates upon completion of the training, which is part of a broader commitment to serving Allah and His Messenger with awareness of their responsibilities.
