Ahead of Eid al-Adha, Brebes Regency in Central Java officially\nlaunched the Sadesa Juleha movement (One Village, One Halal\nSlaughterer). The launch coincided with the opening of the Juleha\nCompetency Certification for the Bank Indonesia (BI) Tegal Regional\nOffice, and was held in the sixth-floor hall of the Integrated\nGovernance Office (KPT) of Brebes Regency on Monday, 18 May 2026.<\/p>\n
The programme marks a strategic step to widen the presence of\ncertified Juleha workers to the village level and to strengthen the\nhalal ecosystem in the western Pantura region of Central Java. A total\nof 44 participants from Brebes, Tegal City and Regency, Pemalang,\nPekalongan City and Regency, Batang, Indramayu, and Cirebon City\nattended the three-day training, which included two days of theory and\none day of hands-on slaughtering practice at the Jatibarang Green Open\nSpace (RPH Jatibarang) and RPH Ketanggungan in Brebes.<\/p>\n
Brebes Regent Paramita Widya Kusuma said the launch of the Sadesa\nJuleha movement is a milestone in strengthening human resources in the\nhalal sector. \u201cBrebes is taking the lead as a pioneer of the one\nvillage, one Juleha movement following competency certification. This is\na commitment to ensure every village has a competent and certified halal\nslaughterer,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Paramita also praised the Brebes DPD Juleha for actively educating\nthe public through mosques, schools, pesantren, and universities, as\npart of supporting the national target of full halal certification by\nOctober 2026. \u201cJuleha Brebes has produced more than a thousand halal\nslaughterers through various trainings. Dozens are nationally certified\nand have job opportunities at home and abroad,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n
She added that Juleha in Brebes is already protected by BPJS\nKetenagakerjaan, ensuring workers\u2019 welfare. \u201cThis shows that Brebes can\nbe a beacon for Juleha in Indonesia,\u201d she said. \u201cHowever, we will\ncontinue to push for greater participation across regions. Through the\nSadesa Juleha movement, we aim for skills to reach every village with\nprotection and job security for Juleha workers.\u201d<\/p>\n
BI Tegal Representative Bimala said the economy and sharia finance\nplay a strategic role in supporting national growth. Indonesia ranks\nthird worldwide in the Global Islamic Economy Indicator (GIEI) 2025. He\nnoted ongoing challenges in developing the halal value chain, sharia\nfinance, and improving literacy in Islamic economics, and that BI\ncontinues to strengthen the Halal Value Chain through programmes\nincluding training and Juleha competency certification. \u201cThrough these\nactivities, participants gain understanding of halal slaughter\nprocedures in line with Islamic law and the applicable competency\nstandards,\u201d Bimala added.<\/p>\n
He expressed hope that the synergy between BI, DPD Juleha Brebes, and\nthe Brebes Regency Government will reinforce a sustainable halal\necosystem, while increasing public trust in halal products and enhancing\ncommunity welfare.
