AMBON – PT Amy Pacific Morotai has released a fisheries export shipment comprising frozen yellowfin tuna and frozen balobo (pelagic fish) totalling 922 cartons or 18 tonnes destined for Japan on Thursday, 12 March 2026 at Yos Sudarso Port in Ambon. This export represents a further step following the preliminary shipment of product samples to the Japanese market.

The success of this initial phase has opened opportunities for PT Amy Pacific Morotai to realise commercial shipments on a larger scale, whilst simultaneously demonstrating increased international market confidence in the quality of fisheries commodities from Maluku.

The success of this export has been supported by the Export Acceleration Team, a cross-agency collaboration comprising Ambon Customs, the Ambon Centre for Fisheries Product Quality Assurance, Maluku Quarantine Services, and the Maluku Provincial Trade and Industry Agency.

Ambon Customs Head M Farid Irfan M stated that inter-agency synergy is key to supporting smooth export processes and ensuring all stages comply with regulations.

“This export is proof that inter-agency collaboration can open greater opportunities for Maluku’s fisheries commodities to penetrate international markets. We will continue to support and assist business operators so that export activities can take place sustainably,” he said in a statement on Friday, 13 March 2026.

The Head of the Maluku Provincial Trade and Industry Agency, Achmad Jais Ely, emphasised the importance of maintaining the momentum of this export as a strategic step to enhance the competitiveness of regional commodities in the global market.

“We must continue to promote export activities such as this so that they can proceed sustainably and be able to boost Maluku’s economy,” he stated.

Through this export, it is hoped that more business operators in Maluku will be encouraged to capitalise on international market opportunities.

Ambon Customs, together with relevant agencies, has also committed to continuing to provide support and assistance in order to strengthen the export ecosystem and increase the fisheries sector’s contribution to the regional economy.
