Breaking: New Trump Statement on US-Iran Ceasefire, Cancelled?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - US President Donald Trump stated last night that US forces deployed near Iran will remain in the area until a “real agreement” is achieved. This marks Trump’s latest announcement amid the fragility of the two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran, which he announced on Tuesday, following Israel’s bombardment of Lebanon that killed 254 people on Wednesday.

“All US ships, aircraft, and military personnel, along with ammunition, weaponry, and everything appropriate and necessary for attacking and destroying a very weakened enemy, will remain in and around Iran until the real agreement is fully complied with,” Trump said on his social media platform, Truth Social, as quoted on Thursday (9/4/2026).

“If for any reason that does not happen, which is highly unlikely, then ‘Shooting Starts’ bigger, better, and stronger than anyone has ever seen before. That has long been agreed, and regardless of all the false contrary rhetoric - NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS and, the Strait of Hormuz WILL BE OPEN & SAFE,” he added.

“Meanwhile, our great military is preparing and resting, actually looking forward to the next conquest. AMERICA IS BACK!.”

Iran has agreed to reopen the vital route during the two-week ceasefire. However, Tehran stated it will maintain “dominance” over it.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical chokepoint through which one-fifth of the world’s oil passes during peacetime. In a Farsi-language demand release circulated by Iranian state media, the Islamic Republic also insisted that Washington accept its uranium enrichment programme.

This was not included in Iran’s demands released through the UN. Trump said the enrichment issue would be “handled” in any agreement.
