JAKARTA — PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) has certified approximately 300 construction workers involved in the Lampung People’s School project to meet the demand for skilled labour for the government’s priority initiative. The certification, conducted in collaboration with the South Sumatra Regional Construction Services Agency (BJKW II Palembang) under the Ministry of Public Works, took place on-site at the project location on 21 May 2026. The programme covers certification for strategic construction workers at levels 1 to 3, aiming to enhance their capabilities and competencies in line with the National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI). “Brantas Abipraya believes that the success of construction is not only determined by material quality and construction technology, but also by the competence of the workforce on the ground. Therefore, we fully support the implementation of this construction worker certification as part of our commitment to delivering high-quality, safe, and sustainable development,” said Dian in a written statement on Monday, 1 June 2026. Dian added that the People’s School project has a significant social impact, necessitating workers with competencies in line with national standards. Meanwhile, Acting Director General of Construction Development at the Ministry of Public Works, Indro Pantja Pramodo, stated that the construction sector plays a strategic role in the national economy, contributing 10.96% to GDP and employing approximately 8.5 million workers. “Therefore, strengthening construction workers’ competencies is crucial to ensure national infrastructure is built to the highest quality,” said Indro. Indro added that the People’s School project is part of the government’s priority agenda to enhance Indonesia’s human resource quality. He noted that certification is not merely an administrative requirement but also a quality assurance for the built infrastructure. According to Ministry of Public Works data, infrastructure development in 2026 is projected to require approximately 37,356 construction workers, comprising 754 experts, 2,676 technicians, and 33,926 operators. Specifically for strategic infrastructure sectors, including the People’s School project, around 13,522 construction workers are projected to be needed.
