Brantas Abipraya Accelerates Construction of People's Schools in South Kalimantan and North Sulawesi
PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) is accelerating the construction of People’s Schools in North Sulawesi (Sulut) and South Kalimantan (Kalsel) to ensure they can be used for the new academic year in 2026. The acceleration is being carried out while maintaining construction quality and ensuring the project is completed on schedule.
Independent Commissioner of Brantas Abipraya, Isra D. Pramulya, stated that the People’s School construction project is targeted to be completed on time while still meeting quality and occupational safety standards. “Brantas Abipraya ensures that the entire construction process runs according to quality standards, timeliness, as well as occupational safety and health (K3),” said Isra in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
Isra explained that the acceleration of work is taking place at several locations, including Minahasa in North Sulawesi, as well as Banjarbaru and Barito Kuala Regencies in South Kalimantan. As of early May 2026, the progress of the People’s School construction in Minahasa has reached 37.51 percent, covering main structural work, structural steel, light steel, and site work.
He said that the realisation against the planned curve or S-Curve shows a positive deviation of 2.36 percent, indicating that the project implementation is faster than the target. Meanwhile, the progress of the People’s School construction in Barito Kuala and Banjarbaru has reached 52.49 percent. “Similar to Minahasa, the construction of this project also shows a positive deviation,” said Isra.
Isra emphasised that the construction acceleration is accompanied by quality control. He assured that the project will not only be completed on time but also meet quality standards and prioritise occupational safety.
Amid the construction progress, the project faces challenges in the form of high rainfall and a shortage of diesel, which impacts the distribution of natural materials such as sand, both for on-site work and supply to the batching plant. To maintain the completion target on 20 June 2026, the company is implementing several acceleration measures.
“The company has added two mobile crane units, bringing the total to four units, and changed the plate casting method from conventional systems to metal deck to improve time efficiency,” said Isra.
From the logistics side, the company is accelerating the procurement of materials such as ceramics, MEP, and furniture by maximising warehouse rentals. Material deliveries are also being rerouted using Hercules aircraft and air cargo to ensure smooth supply amid distribution limitations. “The acceleration carried out does not compromise quality. This is our effort to ensure the project can be completed faster while still meeting the best standards,” said Isra.
Isra stated that the construction of the People’s Schools represents Brantas Abipraya’s contribution to supporting the improvement of human resources through the provision of equitable and decent educational access. The schools are equipped with facilities for primary, junior high, and senior high school levels, teachers’ housing, student dormitories, a mosque, a multipurpose building, a canteen, and sports facilities.
“In the future, Brantas Abipraya will continue to strengthen its role as a strategic partner of the government in infrastructure development, particularly in the education sector,” said Isra.
