BPS head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said her agency would conduct ground checks on 106,153 recipients of the Health Insurance Contribution Subsidy (PBI JK) who had previously been deactivated. Amalia noted that these recipients have since been automatically reactivated by BPJS Kesehatan, ensuring they can still access medical treatment.

“House Commission X has given its support to BPS to carry out ground checks on the 106,153 PBI recipients who were deactivated but subsequently found to be suffering from catastrophic illnesses. We will conduct these ground checks,” Amalia said after a meeting with House Commission X at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/2/2026).

“At the same time, these 106,153 individuals have already been automatically reactivated by BPJS Kesehatan, so they can continue to receive medical treatment,” she added.

Additionally, she said her agency also plans to conduct ground checks on approximately 5.9 million families. This figure is derived from around 11 million individuals whose PBI status had previously been deactivated.

“Regarding our plan to conduct ground checks on approximately 5.9 million families — these are from the 11 million or so people whose PBI was deactivated, which when converted to household units comes to around 5.9 million families,” she said.

Previously, Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, known as Gus Ipul, stated that the Ministry of Social Affairs had carried out automatic reactivation of BPJS Kesehatan coverage for 106,000 sufferers of catastrophic or chronic diseases.

“The first group is already automatically active — they have been reactivated. So the more than 106,000 have been reactivated as of today,” Gus Ipul said at the Ministry of Social Affairs building in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (10/2).

Gus Ipul said the reactivated coverage would remain active for three months, after which the ministry would reassess the eligibility of the recipients.

“Over the next three months, we will review the results to determine whether they meet the requirements. Those who qualify will of course continue to receive assistance, but those who do not will be advised to become independent participants,” he said.
