JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) states that the national average price of shallots rose by 4.27% in the fourth week of April compared to last March.

BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services, Ateng Hartono, said that in hundreds of regions, shallots are sold above the Consumer Reference Selling Price (HAP) of Rp 41,500 per kilogram.

“In the fourth week of April, it is above the reference selling price or HAP, with the current price at Rp 43,998, whereas the HAP is Rp 41,500,” Ateng said during the Inflation Control Coordination Meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday (27/4/2026).

“It experienced an increase of 4.27% compared to last March,” he added.

Ateng suggested that the price increase of shallots in several regions must be monitored because it is considered quite high.

In Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan, for example, shallots are sold 9.45% above the HAP;

Gunung Mas in Central Kalimantan rose 44.37%.

Then, in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, shallots are sold 11.22% above the HAP.

“Supiori Regency has prices for shallots up to Rp 80,000 or 92.77% above its HAP,” Ateng stated.

In addition to shallots, BPS also reported that granulated sugar experienced an average increase of 1.5% in the fourth week of April with a price of Rp 18,765 per kilogram.

The HAP at the consumer level is Rp 17,500 and Rp 18,500 in Maluku, North Maluku, Papua, West Papua, Central Papua, South Papua, Southwest Papua, and underdeveloped, outermost, and frontier (3T) regions as well as border areas.

According to Ateng, the number of regions experiencing price increases for granulated sugar is also quite large, reaching 51% of the country’s territory.

BPS also monitors that there are 185 regencies/cities with quite high IPH and sold above HAP.

In South Barito, for example, granulated sugar is sold 11.03% above HAP; Tolikara Regency 86.5% above HAP; and South Hulu Sungai and Pulau Pisau reaching 10 to 13% above HAP.
