BPS: NTT Experiences 2.62% Inflation in April 2026
Kupang, NTT (ANTARA) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded an annual inflation rate (year-on-year/yoy) in East Nusa Tenggara Province of 2.62% in April 2026, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 110.89.
“The annual inflation in April 2026 is 2.62%, an increase from March 2026’s 2.40%,” said the Head of BPS for NTT Province, Matamira B. Kale, in Kupang on Monday.
Matamira explained that the annual inflation in April 2026 resulted from price increases in 10 out of 11 expenditure groups.
The group with the highest contribution to inflation was personal care and other services at 1.01%, followed by the food, beverages, and tobacco group with a contribution of 0.88%.
Meanwhile, the education group experienced deflation with a contribution of 2.6%.
He also mentioned the main commodities driving inflation in April 2026 (yoy), including jewellery gold with the highest contribution of 0.87%, followed by air transport at 0.35%.
“Other commodities contributing to inflation include broiler chicken meat, cayenne pepper, and household fuels,” he said.
Commodities that hindered annual inflation included anchovy fish with a contribution of minus 0.14%, upper secondary school education fees at minus 0.01%, garlic at minus 0.05%, bananas at minus 0.04%, and green mustard at minus 0.04%.
On a monthly basis (month-to-month/mtm), NTT also experienced inflation of 0.43%, and calendar year inflation (year-to-date/ytd) of 1.79%.
“On a monthly basis, there were price increases in 9 out of 11 expenditure groups. The main commodities contributing to monthly inflation include cayenne pepper, air transport, tomatoes, household fuels, and mobile phones,” said Matamira.
The highest inflation occurred in Waingapu at 3.49% with a CPI of 112.91, while the lowest inflation was in Ngada Regency at 2.03% with a CPI of 110.38.
