BPS: Farmers' Terms of Trade Rise 1.50 Percent to 125.45 in February 2026
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS), through Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, Ateng Hartono, reported that the Farmers’ Terms of Trade (NTP) in February 2026 stood at 125.45, rising 1.50 percent compared to January 2026.
“The increase in NTP occurred because the index of prices received by farmers (It) rose 2.17 percent, higher than the increase in the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib) which rose 0.65 percent,” Ateng said during a press teleconference on Monday, 2 March 2026.
Additionally, Ateng reported that the average rice price increased 0.45 percent at the wholesale level and 0.43 percent at retail level. Meanwhile, the average rice price at the milling level fell 0.33 percent.
Previously, he also projected that national rice production for February-April 2026 is estimated to reach only 12.23 million tons. Ateng acknowledged that this figure experienced a decline of 4.02 percent year-on-year compared with the same period last year.
“The potential rice production from February to April 2026 is estimated at 12.23 million tons, down 0.51 million tons or 4.02 percent,” Ateng said.
He acknowledged that this projection aligns with the potential paddy production estimated to reach 21.24 million tons of dried milled grain (GKG) in the same period, or down 4.04 percent compared to last year.
This production decline is in line with the potential paddy harvesting area for February-April 2026, which is estimated to reach 3.92 million hectares (ha). This figure is reduced by 0.16 million ha compared with the same period last year.
However, Ateng conveyed that this potential harvesting area figure could still change, depending on current conditions from field observations.
“For instance, such as pest attacks, flooding, drought, harvest timing realisation, and so forth,” he said.
