BPS Announces February 2026 Inflation; Economists Estimate 0.1–0.2 Per Cent
Jakarta – Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS) will announce the nation’s economic data for February 2026 today, Monday, 2 March 2026, at 11.00 WIB.
Macroeconomist and financial markets specialist Teuku Riefky of the Economic and Social Research Institute at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia, expects February inflation to remain under control.
Monthly inflation is projected to be in the range of 0.1 to 0.2 per cent on a month-on-month basis.
“On a monthly basis, inflation is relatively manageable at around 0.1–0.2 per cent. This inflationary pressure is mainly driven by food commodity prices such as meat and chicken eggs following the onset of Ramadan,” Riefky told Kompas.com on Monday.
Price pressures are assessed to remain moderate, with overall price stability maintained.
Year-on-year inflation is estimated to be in the range of 4 to 4.3 per cent.
“The forecast for year-on-year inflation is around 4–4.3 per cent. This is largely due to the low-base effect from last year caused by massive electricity tariff discounts,” he said.
Electricity tariff discounts in the corresponding period last year kept inflation suppressed substantially. When this policy ceased, annual inflation figures appeared statistically higher.
Contained inflationary conditions provide space for domestic economic stability. External risks such as global commodity price volatility and geopolitical uncertainty remain areas of concern.
