BPOM Conducts Food Safety Oversight at Pasar Rebo Supermarket, 40 Product Samples Tested
JAKARTA — The Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) conducted food safety oversight at Lotte Grosir Pasar Rebo in East Jakarta on Monday, 9 March 2026, ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
BPOM Chief Taruna Ikrar, accompanied by Jakarta Regional Secretary Uus Kuswanto and East Jakarta Deputy Mayor Kusmanto, conducted an inspection to verify distribution permits and food safety standards. During the operation, BPOM collected multiple food samples from Lotte Grosir Pasar Rebo for testing.
BPOM Chief Taruna Ikrar explained that the oversight was conducted ahead of Eid al-Fitr because public food consumption increases significantly during this period. “Our visit is part of intensified food safety oversight implementation leading up to Ramadan, throughout Ramadan, and until Eid al-Fitr. This is important because we know that during times like these, the intensity of food product sales and usage is very high,” he stated.
He noted that oversight operations were not limited to East Jakarta but were also being conducted across various regions throughout Indonesia.
The inspection methodology employed random sampling, covert inspections, and formal direct examinations. “From today’s inspections of various products, they generally comply with regulations, meet sanitation and hygiene requirements, meet labelling and packaging standards, have proper distribution permits, and are within expiry dates,” Ikrar said.
“Alhamdulillah, the results are all negative and meet requirements for consumption,” he added.
