Bandarlampung – The Regional Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BBPOM) in Bandarlampung is intensifying oversight of food products consumed by the public, particularly takjil (Ramadan break-fast meals) sold by traders during the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.

“To ensure food safety during the fasting month, we are conducting intensified food inspections. The activities will be conducted from 18 February to 17 March 2026,” said Bagus Heri Purnomo, head of BBPOM in Bandarlampung, in Bandarlampung on Saturday.

He stated that the inspection targets include food distribution channels such as importers or distributors, shops, wholesale outlets, supermarkets, hypermarkets and traditional markets.

“The focus of our oversight is on processed food products that do not meet regulatory requirements, such as those lacking distribution permits, expired items, or damaged goods. We will also target takjil for breaking the fast that contain prohibited substances,” he said.

He explained that inter-agency coordination is supported by the existence of the Food Task Force and the Drug and Food Coordination and Supervision Team, in accordance with their respective authorities.

He stated that alongside the Food Task Force, which includes the Health Department, Trade Department, and others, BBPOM in Bandarlampung not only conducts food inspections but also educates the public.

“In addition to conducting food inspections and follow-up actions, we also educate the public to avoid using or purchasing food containing hazardous substances,” he said.
