BPKP Declares Rp1.5 Trillion Loss in Chromebook Corruption Case as Real

New facts have emerged in the continuation of the trial regarding alleged corruption in the procurement of Chromebook-based laptops within the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. The Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) has affirmed that the state loss of Rp1.5 trillion in this case constitutes a real loss, not merely an assumption or prediction. This confirmation was provided by BPKP Auditor and Head of the State Loss Calculation Team, Dedy Nurmawan Susilo, while giving expert testimony at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Thursday, 2 April 2026. “Yes. According to us, that loss is already real and certain,” said Dedy. The statement responded to the prosecutor’s question confirming whether the state loss figure of Rp1,567,888,662,716.74 is truly one that has occurred. “I want to confirm whether you, as the team leader from BPKP along with your team, in conducting the audit, have professionally stated that the state loss of Rp1,567,888,662,716.74 or Rp1.5 trillion in this case is a real, certain, and occurred loss? Not an assumption or potential loss? Not an estimate or assumption?” asked Prosecutor Roy Riady. Dedy explained that the state loss is deemed real because the procurement has genuinely taken place and the budget has been disbursed. “Real relates to its occurrence, the event. ‘Occurred’ indeed means the money has been spent, based on what? Based on data from the Ministry of Finance, it has indeed happened in government expenditure both at the central level in the ministry and at the local government level through Special Allocation Funds (DAK), like that,” said Dedy. Meanwhile, the element of “certain” is fulfilled because the calculation was performed using audit methods in accordance with procedures. “Then ‘certain’, the figure has also gone through a method, a procedure as we explained earlier, we have conducted analysis, we have scrutinised it so we obtained the accurate figure as such,” said Dedy. He also emphasised that the audit results are entirely based on evidence, not speculation. “So, its nature is not an assumption, not a prediction or estimate, but all based on evidence, based on the proofs that we have obtained and analysed, like that,” stated Dedy. In the same trial, Prosecutor Roy Riady also spotlighted allegations of a Rp809 billion fund flow through an irregular transaction scheme.
