JAKARTA - An auditor from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), who also serves as the Head of the State Loss Calculation Team for the Chromebook case, Dedy Nurmawan Susilo, stated that no producers sell Chromebook-based laptops at a loss.

Dedy made this statement when presented as a witness in the continuation of the trial for the alleged Chromebook case against the defendant and former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Nadiem Makarim.

“So, no one sells at a loss like that. So, it already includes their profits,” Dedy said during the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, on Monday (13/4/2026).

Dedy explained that to calculate the state losses and fair price of Chromebooks, BPKP requested data such as production figures and similar information from producers and distributors.

In the calculations, BPKP recalculated production costs, import costs, and reasonable profits for producers and other parties.

“So, our fair price calculation already includes profits for the principals or producers, distributor margins, including margins for resellers or providers. That’s what we did,” Dedy added.

Dedy wanted to emphasise that the price of Chromebooks purchased by the government is not below production costs, because producers certainly include profits in their selling prices.

By recalculating production costs, distribution, and reasonable margins for all parties, BPKP found a price range that should reflect normal market conditions.

In this case, former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim, along with three other defendants, are said to have caused state financial losses amounting to Rp 2.1 trillion.

This figure is said to stem from Google’s investment in Gojek or PT AKAB.

Meanwhile, Mulyatsyah is said to have received SGD 120,000 and USD 150,000.

Nadiem is alleged to have abused his authority, making Google the sole controller of ICT procurement, including laptops, in Indonesia’s technology ecosystem.

This was done by directing procurement studies towards a single product, namely Chrome-based devices, which is a Google product.

Nadiem carried out this act together with three other defendants: former Technology Consultant in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Ibrahim Arief; Director of SMP in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology from 2020–2021 and Budget User Representative (KPA), Mulyatsyah; and Director of SD in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology from 2020–2021 and KPA, Sri Wahyuningsih.
