BPKH Prepares Hajj Pocket Money for 2026: How Much Will Pilgrims Receive?
The Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) has assured the readiness of living cost funds for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims in 1447 H/2026 AD. The total funds in Saudi Riyals amount to SAR 152.49 million, equivalent to around Rp 695 billion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp 4,561 per SAR), to be distributed to 203,320 regular Hajj pilgrims.
The handover of the banknotes was conducted officially in Jakarta on Thursday (9/4/2026), as part of BPKH’s commitment to ensuring financial readiness for pilgrims in a transparent, accountable manner, and in accordance with Sharia principles.
Each pilgrim will receive pocket money of SAR 750, or approximately Rp 3.4 million. This amount consists of one SAR 500 note, two SAR 100 notes, and one SAR 50 note. The funds are prepared for operational needs during their stay in the Holy Land, including additional consumption, emergency funds, and payment of dam (Hajj penalties).
BPKH Executive Board Member Amri Yusuf explained that this year’s foreign exchange procurement process still refers to Law No. 34 of 2014 on Hajj Financial Management. One key focus is the implementation of the sharf contract, a mechanism for cash currency exchange.
“In this Sharia scheme, we separate the principal currency value from distribution costs. The principal value is handed over in cash, while distribution costs are paid after all provider obligations are fulfilled. This represents high transparency in Hajj financial governance,” said Amri in his official statement in Jakarta on Friday (10/4/2026).
Furthermore, BPKH emphasises that Hajj funds are managed optimally to keep Hajj costs affordable. For 2026, the total Hajj Worship Implementation Cost (BPIH) is around Rp 87 million per pilgrim. However, pilgrims only need to pay the Hajj Travel Cost (Bipih) of approximately Rp 54 million.
