Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Badan Pengatur Jalan Tol (BPJT) is preparing additional scenarios before proceeding with the full trial of the contactless toll transaction system, or Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF).

BPJT Head Wilan Oktavian stated that the current MLFF testing remains in the pre-trial stage.

“So we’re still in the pre-trial phase, more or less,” Wilan said during a discussion with the media in Jakarta on Thursday.

He explained that previous trials were conducted on a limited basis on the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) Toll Road and the Bali Mandara Toll Road.

According to him, the earlier testing covered around 64 scenarios, most of which were positive scenarios and demonstrations.

“That was what was tested previously on JORR and Bali Mandara. But those were only 64 scenarios, mostly positive scenarios and demos,” he said.

Therefore, BPJT is now compiling additional scenarios deemed closer to various conditions that may arise when the system is implemented.

Wilan exemplified these additional scenarios, such as for users without accounts and vehicles with mismatched number plates.

“We’re preparing other scenarios that are likely to occur, for example, what if someone doesn’t have an account, or what if they use fake plates,” he revealed.

He added that all these scenarios need to be refined before entering the actual trial stage.

According to him, the government wants to ensure that all potential issues have been anticipated early because the full trial will involve many parties.

BPJT has not yet entered discussions on additional investment needs or compensation for toll road business entities, as the process is still in the technical realm.

According to him, evaluation regarding investment aspects will be conducted after the technical stages are completed and reported to the Minister of Public Works.

Wilan added that the next trial will be conducted comprehensively or end-to-end, from using the application to the payment system being accepted by toll road business entities.

“This trial will be done end-to-end, meaning from downloading the app to the payment being received by BUJT or PT Roatex,” he said.

He mentioned that the current stage is still in the pre-trial phase, namely preparing the terms of reference (TOR) for the trial implementation.

In addition, functional tests are also being conducted to demonstrate the app’s features, before proceeding to more comprehensive subsequent testing.
