BPJS Ketenagakerjaan President Director Makes Personal Visit to Patients to Ensure Optimal Service and State Presence
President Director of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Saiful Hidayat, accompanied by Trisna Sonjaya, Director of Services, visited two participants, Reki Muhamad Saprial, 62, and Danisha Talitha Zahwa, 12, who are undergoing intensive treatment at RS EMC Pekayon in Bekasi City. Reki, an online motorcycle taxi rider, suffered a traffic accident about a month ago on Wednesday 4 February; he fell from his motorcycle and his left leg was crushed under a truck. He has undergone 28 days of treatment with total medical costs amounting to Rp442 million and is continuing as indicated by medical staff. He has undergone two operations, including an amputation and management of subsequent complications. Reki has been an active BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participant since November 2025 through a worker protection programme initiated by the West Java Provincial Government under Governor Dedi Mulyadi. The programme provides social security protection for vulnerable workers in West Java. ‘We want to ensure Mr Reki and his family do not face this situation alone. This is evidence that the state is present. BPJS Ketenagakerjaan does not only process claims; it actively ensures participants receive the best possible services quickly and without obstacles,’ Saiful said after the visit. He added that the rapid response is aided by the proactive role of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan branch office, which since the initial report has provided intensive mentoring to the participant and family so that medical action can proceed without financial impediment. Saiful also urged RS EMC Pekayon management to ensure all participants undergoing treatment receive the best, fastest and most professional medical care. Under the Work Accident Insurance (JKK) programme, all medical costs for Reki are covered without an upper limit according to medical indication until the participant recovers or returns to work (RTW). In addition, Reki will receive the Temporary Inability to Work (STMB) benefit as a wage replacement of Rp1 million per month, and there is also a disability grant of Rp28 million and assistive devices such as a wheelchair, crutches and a prosthetic limb (orthoses). Saiful stressed that the benefits of social security protection are not merely numbers but real protection for the livelihoods of workers’ families. ‘With affordable contributions, the benefits can reach hundreds of millions of rupiah. Without this protection, the burden would be very heavy for families. We appreciate and thank the West Java Governor for his attention in protecting vulnerable workers in West Java,’ he said. He also invited all workers, especially informal and vulnerable workers, to ensure they are registered as BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants. This aligns with government policy offering a 50% discount on the JKK and JKM contributions that would otherwise be paid by participants under Government Regulation No. 50 of 2025. ‘The government provides ease and relief on contributions so more workers are protected. This moment must be seized. Do not wait until risk occurs. Ensure yourself and your family have social security protection,’ he said. Meanwhile, EMC Pekayon Hospital Director Dedy Nugroho expressed high appreciation for the good cooperation with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan so that treatment and care for the patient could proceed smoothly. ‘Our cooperation is very good with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan because everything is fully covered, including recovery and rehabilitation. This is the best aspect of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan—from protection through to recovery and rehabilitation. We will handle it comprehensively,’ he concluded.
