We wish Mr. Gilang a swift recovery so that he can reunite with his family during Eid al-Fitr. Jakarta (ANTARA) - In a statement on Saturday, Eko Purnomo, Director of Investment Development at BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, confirmed that a participant named Gilang, 33, who was involved in a road traffic accident while performing work duties, will receive medical treatment up to recovery under the Jaminan Kecelakaan Kerja (JKK) scheme. During a visit to RS Permata Cirebon the day before, Friday (6 March), Eko said that all medical costs for the participant would be fully covered in line with medical indications, because the hospital is a Pusat Layanan Kecelakaan Kerja (PLKK) that collaborates with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. “We hope Mr. Gilang recovers swiftly so that he can reunite with his family during Eid al-Fitr,” said Eko as he visited the participant receiving treatment. He explained that, in addition to funding for medical treatment, the participant is also entitled to the Santunan Sementara Tidak Mampu Bekerja (STMB) benefit during the recovery period when they are not yet able to return to work. This benefit is provided as income replacement so the participant’s family maintains a degree of income security during the recovery process. According to Eko, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s capacity to provide protection benefits to participants is inseparable from the professional management of the social security fund conducted with sound governance and prudence. He added that credibility and accountability in fund management form the fundamental basis for returns on contributions to be returned to participants in the form of optimal protection benefits, easy services, and assured claim payments when participants encounter workplace risks. Gilang’s family also expressed appreciation for the service provided by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan together with the hospital during the treatment process. “Praise be to God, thank you BPJS Ketenagakerjaan for the help with the care costs; and thanks to RS Permata Cirebon for providing excellent service and care,” said Gilang’s wife. On the occasion, Eko reminded that the risk of workplace accidents can occur at any time and anywhere, including during journeys to and from the workplace. Therefore, he urged all employers to ensure their employees are enrolled in the social security for workers programme. A similar appeal was made to informal sector workers such as traders, ride-hailing drivers, fishermen, and farmers to register themselves voluntarily. “By becoming BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants, workers can work with greater peace of mind knowing they are protected against a range of occupational risks that may arise,” said Eko.
