BPJPH Strengthens National Halal Ecosystem, Signs Strategic Partnerships with Four Partners
Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) signed strategic cooperation agreements for Halal Product Assurance (JPH) with four strategic partners at the BPJPH building in Jakarta on Friday, 27 February 2026.
The signing of the cooperation agreement represents part of BPJPH’s strategy to strengthen the national halal ecosystem and expand international recognition of Indonesian halal certification.
BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan emphasised that the cooperation agreement signing constitutes a strategic step for the agency to strengthen the foundation of the national halal ecosystem.
“2026 is a momentum for accelerating the national halal industry. The contribution of the halal value chain to Indonesia’s GDP has reached approximately 27 per cent, equivalent to roughly IDR 4.832 trillion in 2025,” said Haikal, affectionately known as Babe Haikal, in a press release received by Kompas.com on Saturday, 28 February 2026.
On the same occasion, National Zakat Agency (Baznas) Chair Noor Achmad expressed full support for BPJPH’s efforts to strengthen halal certification. He assessed that strengthening the JPH system would not only impact legal certainty and consumer protection, but also open broader economic opportunities for business actors, particularly assisted micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Synergy between strengthening the halal industry and optimising the management of zakat, infak, and shadaqah was also viewed as a strategic instrument in driving sustainable economic empowerment of the Muslim community.
Present at the cooperation agreement signing were BPJPH General Secretary Muhammad Aqil Irham, Deputy for Halal Partnerships and Standardisation Abd Syakur, Deputy for Halal Registration and Certification Mamat Salamet Burhanudin, Deputy for Halal Guidance and Supervision EA Chuzaemi Abidin, various directors, experts, BPJPH leadership, and representatives from related partner agencies.
