BPJPH Head's Message: Nurture Relationships through Halal and Wholesome Consumption
The momentum of Eid al-Fitr is not only an occasion for mutual forgiveness but also for strengthening relationships through togetherness, including enjoying various dishes with family and friends. The warmth of Eid al-Fitr also extends to office environments. This tradition of togetherness is maintained through halal bihalal activities among fellow workers. The halal bihalal tradition serves as a means to strengthen work relationships, mutual forgiveness, and bolster the spirit of togetherness post-Ramadan. The Head of the Halal Product Assurance Organising Agency (BPJPH), Ahmad Haikal Hasan, invites the public to make the consumption of halal products an important part of maintaining blessings in every moment of togetherness. “The relationships we build will be even more meaningful if accompanied by the consumption of halal and tayib products. This is part of our efforts to maintain blessings in everyday life,” said the man familiarly known as Babe Haikal in a written statement received by Kompas.com on Friday (27/3/2026). He stated that awareness of halal products would be better started from the family environment. Because the family is the starting point of education for the wider community. The habit of choosing and serving halal food at home will shape good consumption behaviour in society as a whole. “Starting from simple things, such as ensuring the ingredients we use have clear halal status, to choosing products that are already halal certified. This is a small step, but with a big impact,” explained Babe Haikal. In addition to the educational approach, the government through BPJPH also carries out halal certification obligations regulatively based on Law No. 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance. Babe Haikal emphasised that producers or business actors have the responsibility to present dishes that are not only delicious but also guaranteed halal. “This is done through halal certification. The government through BPJPH ensures that products labelled halal have gone through a standardised process in accordance with applicable regulations, resulting in products that are traceable and guaranteed halal,” he explained. Furthermore, Babe Haikal conveyed that the halal lifestyle is no longer just a trend but has become a need for a society that is increasingly aware of the quality, safety, and clarity of the status of consumed products. He emphasised that halal certification must be understood as a need for product producers to meet consumer needs by producing quality and guaranteed halal products. Therefore, BPJPH continues to encourage increased public literacy on the importance of halal products. “In the midst of the post-Eid togetherness atmosphere, I invite all of society to continue nurturing the spirit of relationships by prioritising values of halal, safety, and goodness in every aspect of life,” said Babe Haikal. He added that the increase in halal lifestyle makes every moment of togetherness not only bring happiness but also peace and blessings for all.
