When there are differences in results, decisions must refer to the institution with the strongest and most trusted testing capabilities. We want to ensure that capacity exists in BPJPH.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Halal Product Assurance Organising Agency (BPJPH) has established cooperation with the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) to strengthen synergy in developing the national halal product assurance ecosystem, particularly through the updating of BPJPH’s halal laboratories.

BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan stated in Jakarta on Thursday that strengthening laboratories is a key element in guaranteeing the credibility of Indonesia’s halal system and serves as the main foundation in organising halal product assurance.

“Laboratories are the soul of halal product assurance. Our strength is determined by testing capabilities and scientific proof. Superior detection capacity will position BPJPH credibly and fairly in making decisions,” said Haikal.

Furthermore, he assessed that the existence of state-of-the-art laboratories is crucial in resolving differences in results or doubts regarding a product’s halal status.

In strengthening this synergy, both parties also discussed enhancing laboratory capacity, including scaling up and improving the quality of laboratory services as part of bolstering the national halal ecosystem.

LPS Commissioner Council Chairman Anggito Abimanyu expressed his support for developing halal product assurance to have standards equivalent to those in other countries.

“We support the development of halal product assurance to be at least on par with similar institutions in other countries. Strengthening laboratories is an important part to make this system increasingly credible,” said Anggito.

“BPJPH’s laboratory must have quality above the others. This is not an ordinary laboratory. The quality of BPJPH’s lab must be above the others. And this is not a retail lab, but for testing products that have already been tested but need further testing,” he added.

This synergy between BPJPH and LPS, continued Anggito, is expected to accelerate the strengthening of national halal infrastructure, while also increasing public trust in Indonesia’s halal product assurance system.

“Going forward, both institutions will follow up on the results of this meeting through concrete steps to support the development of modern, accurate, and high-standard halal laboratories,” he said.
