BPIP Claims South Sulawesi Paskibraka Selection Process Complies with Regulations
The Badan Pembinaan Ideologi Pancasila (BPIP) has claimed there is no discrimination in the 2026 national Pasukan Pengibar Bendera Pusaka (Paskibraka) selection process in South Sulawesi. Deputy Head of BPIP Rima Agristina stated that the agency monitors the selection process.
“We ensure that every stage is monitored by BPIP. Therefore, there is no discriminatory action,” she said in Jakarta on Friday, 29 May 2026.
She added that local government authorities have explained the issue, and BPIP has dispatched a team to verify. She asserted the selection complies with regulations.
“We are checking to confirm that the handling adheres to existing regulations,” she said.
She urged the public to view the matter comprehensively.
Previously, BPIP Central Paskibraka Program Director Fuad Lutfi stated the national Paskibraka selection process was conducted professionally and objectively. BPIP dismissed narratives linking the selection to ethnicity, religion, race, or specific backgrounds.
Fuad said participants were assessed based on national parameters, not specific backgrounds. “All candidates have equal opportunities and are evaluated according to nationally established selection indicators,” he said on Thursday, 28 May 2026.
The provincial-level Paskibraka selection process in South Sulawesi has been widely discussed in recent days. The controversy began when a candidate identified as CYL was initially in the top three for the national team but was suddenly replaced by another candidate. The replacement was reportedly not among the top 10.
The initial top three female candidates comprised two from Makassar, including CYL, and one from Bone. The list was said to have been partially approved by the committee, but CYL’s position was later unilaterally replaced by a candidate from Gowa Regency, allegedly without a clear additional selection process.
