Jakarta (ANTARA) - A member of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body Committee (BPH Migas), Fathul Nugroho, stated that the capacity of the Integrated Terminal (IT) in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, will be increased to 64,000 kilolitres (KL). Fathul explained that the IT Banjarmasin is currently undergoing the addition of a new tank with a capacity of 10,000 kilolitres (KL), as well as an upgrade to 5,000 KL. “With this step, the total tank capacity, which was previously 42,000 KL, will increase to 52,000 KL. In the future, IT Banjarmasin plans to add another 12,000 KL, bringing the total capacity of this terminal to 64,000 KL,” Fathul said in a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday. This was conveyed by Fathul during a field visit in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, to monitor fuel stock resilience following the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr (RAFI) period in 2026. The inspection focused on strengthening stocks at IT Banjarmasin, the reliability of avtur supply at the Aviation Fuel Terminal (AFT) Syamsudin Noor, and public services at General Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU) in Banjarmasin. Fathul highlighted the crucial role of IT Banjarmasin as an energy distribution hub in Kalimantan. The terminal supplies fuel to 11 regencies/cities in South Kalimantan and four areas in Central Kalimantan. Fathul also expressed BPH Migas’s support for the addition of new tanks and capacity enhancements as a proactive measure to address future surges in demand. This effort simultaneously strengthens fuel stock resilience in the region. During this capacity upgrade, Fathul assured the people of South Kalimantan that they need not worry about fuel availability. He noted that current stock conditions are safe and reliable due to infrastructure strengthening. Subsequently, Fathul also inspected AFT Syamsudin Noor to ensure preparedness for avtur supply ahead of the Eid return flow and increased flights leading up to the Hajj season. “We remain committed to ensuring that all avtur needs during this busy period are met safely and smoothly for the comfort of the public,” he said. In addition, Fathul directly inspected one of the SPBUs in Banjarmasin to ensure optimal public services post-Eid. The field monitoring results found that fuel distribution is running safely with no queues at the SPBUs. “Overall, public services during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026 period have gone well. We will continue to ensure strict field supervision so that energy distribution to all corners of South Kalimantan remains stable and on target,” he said. Acting Manager of Reliability & Project Development for the Kalimantan Region of Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN), Janatul Arif, explained that the tank addition is a strategic step to improve services to the public. She also expressed appreciation to BPH Migas for providing various inputs. “We consider those inputs very crucial, especially in strengthening the system and ensuring optimal fuel stock readiness,” she said.
