Batam — The Batam Development Authority (BP Batam), Riau Islands, has reactivated its Liaison Officer (LO) position in Singapore as a strategic measure to strengthen investment diplomacy and accelerate foreign direct investment (FDI) flows to Batam.

According to Fary Djemy Francis, Deputy for Investment and Business at BP Batam, the presence of a liaison officer will expedite communication with investors and ensure that investment interests can be quickly converted into concrete projects.

“Batam offers not just incentives, but certainty and execution speed. The presence of a Liaison Officer in Singapore will accelerate the transformation of investment interests into project realisation,” Francis said in an official statement received in Batam on Friday.

Francis appointed Gloria Tan as BP Batam’s Liaison Officer in Singapore. Tan previously served as BP Batam’s Liaison Officer in Singapore for 18 years from 2001 until 2020.

She affirmed her commitment to strengthening investment connectivity between the two regions. “Batam holds a strategic position within the regional industrial ecosystem. Our role is to ensure that Singapore investors can connect directly with investment opportunities ready for execution in Batam,” she said.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Deputy Ambassador to Singapore, Thomas Siregar, welcomed BP Batam’s initiative.

“Strengthening BP Batam’s presence in Singapore will further reinforce Indonesia’s economic diplomacy and open wider investment opportunities for Batam in the regional supply chain,” Siregar said.

The move reaffirms BP Batam’s strategy to position Batam as a regional execution hub for industrial, logistics, and green economy investment across Southeast Asia.
