JAKARTA — BP Batam has once again demonstrated its commitment to fostering a conducive and competitive investment climate. This was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BP Batam and the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM on Tuesday (24/6/2025) in Jakarta.

The MoU was signed directly by Investment Minister/BKPM Head Rosan Perkasa Roeslani and BP Batam Head/Batam Mayor Amsakar Achmad. The collaboration aims to strengthen synergy in investment development within the Batam Free Trade and Free Port Zone, with a focus on data synchronisation, licensing oversight, and the development of investment opportunities and strategic policies.

"This step is a manifestation of our commitment to making Batam an investment-friendly zone that is adaptive to global developments," said Amsakar Achmad in his remarks.

Amsakar noted that Batam's investment realisation in 2024 reached Rp43.26 trillion, an increase of 31.17 per cent from the previous year. This also drove Batam's economic growth to 6.69 per cent — surpassing the national average of 5.03 per cent.

He affirmed that BP Batam would continue to maintain this growth momentum in support of the national target of 8 per cent set out in the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).

"We hope this MoU becomes a concrete foundation for integrating central and regional policies to realise Batam as the investment city of the future," he added.

Meanwhile, Investment Minister Rosan Perkasa Roeslani expressed his appreciation for Batam's achievements, noting that the city's contribution is vital in supporting the national investment target of Rp13,000 trillion over the next five years.

"I am confident that under BP Batam's leadership, this collaboration will proceed well and deliver broad benefits for the people of Batam and Indonesia alike," he said optimistically.

Also in attendance were Deputy Investment Minister Todotua Pasaribu, BP Batam Deputy Head Li Claudia Chandra, as well as deputies and senior officials within BP Batam.
