Boy in Sukabumi Who Died After Alleged Abuse Had Been Tortured by Stepmother for Three Years
A boy, identified only as NS, in Sukabumi died after allegedly being abused by his stepmother. After a lengthy investigation, the Sukabumi Police have officially named the boy’s stepmother as a suspect.
As reported by detikJabar, Sukabumi Police Chief AKBP Samian stated that TR was named a suspect after investigators delved into the case of the child’s death due to violence.
“Regarding the case of the child’s death due to violence that occurred at the Sukabumi Police, the Criminal Investigation Unit has named a suspect, namely Ms. TR, who is the stepmother. Ms. TR has been named a suspect on suspicion of violence, both physical and psychological,” said Samian at the Sukabumi Police Headquarters on Wednesday (February 25, 2026).
TR is suspected of frequently torturing the victim for several years. The victim, NS, is said to have experienced abuse since 2023. The case was also previously reported but ended in a settlement.
“The violence experienced was ordinary physical violence, such as pulling hair, slapping, scratching, like that, during the time he lived with TR,” explained Samian, detailing the form of torture the victim experienced.
TR claimed that she carried out her actions in order to educate the child. Samian said that TR was charged under the Child Protection Law.
“As for the motive, we are still investigating, because as a parent, she claims she was educating her child. That’s it,” he added.
“We have charged her with Article 80 in conjunction with Article 76C of Law No. 35 of 2014 and Law No. 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection,” Samian said.
Regarding allegations that the victim was forced to drink hot water in the latest incident, Samian stated that investigators are still conducting further investigations without solely relying on the suspect’s confession.
“Investigators are working professionally by collecting evidence using scientific crime investigation methods, which can of course be scientifically justified,” he concluded.
