Bottled Water Industry Drives Science-Based Natural Resource Management
JAKARTA — The DPP AMDATARA (Indonesian Bottled Water Industry Association) has strengthened collaboration with the Geological Agency under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to promote sustainable water resource management.
The partnership focuses on enhancing water governance, regulations, and science-based research to support national water resource policies.
AMDATARA Chairman Karyanto Wibowo stated the association is committed to responsible water resource management and full compliance with existing regulations.
During the meeting, AMDATARA outlined the bottled water industry’s developments, including economic contributions and challenges faced by businesses.
Beyond industry conditions, AMDATARA explored strategic collaboration with the Geological Agency, particularly strengthening scientific research and studies to inform data-driven policies.
This support aims to bolster science-based water management, ensuring industry growth aligns with environmental conservation efforts.
Initiatives include science-based river basin management, tree planting, recharge well construction, groundwater monitoring, and improving public access to clean water.
AMDATARA also presented technical perspectives on Indonesia’s water resource management.
Acting Head of the Geological Agency Lana Saria praised AMDATARA’s efforts in building communication and partnerships with the government.
‘We hope government and bottled water industry synergy can be further strengthened,’ said Saria.
Both parties discussed strategic issues, including sustainable water resource management, regulatory compliance, clean water access, licensing aspects, and current SDA-related matters.
The meeting was attended by Agus Cahyono Adi, Head of the Groundwater and Environmental Geology Centre (PATGTL).
Through this collaboration, AMDATARA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships with government and stakeholders.
The synergy aims to promote sustainable water resource management, strengthen regulatory certainty, and ensure the bottled water industry continues to benefit society and the national economy.
