Boost Oil and Gas Production by 10.4 Percent, Saka Energi Targets 24,000 BOEPD in 2026
PT Saka Energi Indonesia (SAKA), a subsidiary of Pertamina’s Gas Sub-Holding, targets net production of about 24,000 BOEPD (barrels of oil equivalent per day), up around 10.4 percent from the previous year’s realisation. This target forms part of the company’s big strategy to optimise oil and gas assets to strengthen national energy resilience. The increase is driven by optimism about overall asset operations and the success of several development projects for new wells. SAKA’s President Director Intan Fauzi emphasised that this target will be pursued through an integrated strategy, from optimisation of existing fields to aggressive exploration activities. ‘The 2026 production target reflects our commitment to continually strengthen performance through an integrated strategy and the sustainable development of oil and gas resources,’ Intan said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday (8/3/2026). One of the main drivers of SAKA’s optimism is the successful drilling of the UPA-17ST development well in the Pangkah Working Area (WK). The well, drilled at the end of 2025, is now onstream with significant production. ‘Production results are positive, around 2,430 BOPD of oil and 2.3 MMSCFD of gas. This is an important part of maintaining production performance from already-operating assets,’ Intan explained. In addition, SAKA recorded stellar performance in 2025 with the realisation of three development wells and two workover activities. Specifically in the Pangkah WK, oil production realisation even exceeded the RKAP target by 113 percent. Not only focusing on short-term production, SAKA continues to strengthen its future portfolio through exploration activities. The company has just completed a geophysical and geotechnical survey in the Pekawai WK. This survey is part of site preparation for planned exploration drilling activities. The move is expected to open opportunities for additional oil and gas reserves and ensure long-term production sustainability. ‘Through production optimisation and exploration, we hope to sustain company growth while making a concrete contribution to national energy self-sufficiency,’ Intan concluded.
