Bontang Investment Agency Tightens OSS Account Security to Protect Business Owners' Digital Identity
BONTANG – In today's fast-paced digital era, protecting the digital identity of business operators has become increasingly important. Recognising this, the Bontang Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP Bontang) has taken proactive steps by tightening procedures for changes to Online Single Submission (OSS) accounts.
This measure is not merely a bureaucratic exercise but part of an effort to build a safer and more accountable system for business operators registered on the OSS platform, a nationally integrated licensing system.
Idrus, a Junior Expert Licensing Officer at DPMPTSP Bontang, stressed that protecting the digital identity of business owners is a priority. He noted that gaps in the account verification process could be exploited by irresponsible parties to misuse data, potentially leading to legal and financial losses.
"We see significant potential risks if account changes are made without proper controls. Therefore, every request for account changes must be verified directly by the business owner in person," he said on Sunday (8 June 2025).
Identity verification includes document checks and face-to-face authentication. Even for seemingly simple matters such as changing an email address, the process still involves an official request to the central office by the DPMPTSP team, with an estimated processing time of approximately three working days.
This policy is also aligned with national OSS security standards, which emphasise the validity and security of user data.
DPMPTSP Bontang is also actively educating business operators to be more vigilant about the security of their accounts. Advice to store login credentials safely and not to share them carelessly is consistently communicated on various occasions.
Through these measures, DPMPTSP is not only carrying out its administrative functions but also serving as a guardian of the digital identity of business operators in the region. It is hoped that this will foster a safer and more trustworthy licensing ecosystem.
