Bon Jovi concert: 'No drugs, booze'
JAKARTA (JP): Pop Rocker Bon Jovi will play in Jakarta on May
6, at the former Ancol race circuit, North Jakarta, with the
slogan "No drugs, no booze."
Tri H. Sudwikatmono, daughter of tycoon Sudwikatmono and
president director of Indo Ent. Productions, which is organizing
the show, announced on Monday that she was happy with the slogan
and hoped Bon Jovi's arrival will be helpful to the ongoing
campaign against drug and alcohol abuse among the young
generation.
"We expect many youngsters will avoid drugs and alcohol
because their idol, Bon Jovi, always does," said Tri.
Bon Jovi will receive US$332,000 for the Jakarta performance.
The show is co-sponsored by the Indosiar television channel,
Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, Sunvic Productions and PolyGram
Indonesia.
The show, titled Cross Roads To the East (Cross Roads is the
name of his best-songs-compilation album), is part of the group's
current world tour. In Asia alone, aside from Jakarta, they will
perform in Bombay, Taipei, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and
three cities in Japan.
Bon Jovi's latest album, Always, has reportedly sold more than
300,000 copies in Indonesia, second only to Japan in Asia.
The ticket price is Rp 150,000 ($68) for VIP seats and Rp
45,000 (around $20) for festival ground.
The organizing committee will deploy approximately 5,000
security personnel to safeguard the show as well as six top local
paranormals to prevent rain. (jsk)
