Bogor's Tirta Kahuripan Water Utility Anticipates Supply Disruptions During Ramadan
Bogor Regency (ANTARA) — Perumda Air Minum Tirta Kahuripan, the municipal drinking water utility of Bogor Regency, West Java, is anticipating potential disruptions to clean water supply ahead of and during Ramadan 1447 Hijriah by placing technical staff on 24-hour standby amid the district’s extreme weather alert status.
General Director of Perumda Air Minum Tirta Kahuripan, Abdul Somad, said in Cibinong on Tuesday that the company had held an internal coordination meeting to ensure technical readiness and that services would continue to operate optimally throughout the fasting month.
Although payment counter operating hours would be adjusted, he said the commitment to customer service remained a priority.
“Payment counter services will be open from 08:00 to 12:00 WIB, whilst complaint services will run from 08:00 to 13:30 WIB. Outside these hours, customers can use the MyKahuripan application, which is easier and faster,” Abdul Somad said.
He affirmed that the technical team and Rapid Response Team would remain on 24-hour standby to handle any potential disruptions to clean water distribution, particularly those caused by extreme weather conditions.
Bogor Regency currently remains under an extreme weather alert through March 2026. These conditions could potentially cause disruptions such as landslides damaging pipe networks, flash floods inundating water treatment installations, and increased turbidity in rivers serving as raw water sources.
Abdul Somad explained that the clean water production process is highly dependent on the quality and quantity of river water. If turbidity levels and flow rates exceed the design thresholds of the treatment installations, the processing requires higher doses of chemicals and longer settling times.
In extreme conditions, he continued, the company may even have to reduce production capacity in order to maintain water quality in accordance with health standards.
“We therefore ask for customers’ understanding should supply disruptions occur due to natural factors such as landslides or raw water quality that cannot be treated. We also encourage customers to store water as a temporary reserve,” he said.
