PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is accelerating service capacity upgrades at Bogor Station through the development of platforms 6, 7, and 8. The project is being prepared to support the operation of 12-carriage KRL Commuter Line trainsets, known as SF12, on the Bogor Line, responding to the high mobility needs of residents travelling from Bogor and its surrounding buffer zones to Jakarta.

According to KAI data for the first half of 2026, Bogor Station recorded the highest passenger movements among all stations serving the Jabodetabek KRL Commuter Line. From January to June 2026, the station registered 18,451,462 passenger movements, comprising 9,371,410 gate-in and 9,080,405 gate-out transactions. The average daily passenger movement at Bogor Station reached approximately 101,942.

In the ranking of the top five stations by KRL passenger volume for the first half of 2026, Bogor Station led with 18,451,462 movements. It was followed by Tanah Abang Station with 17,291,480 movements, Sudirman Station with 13,078,339 movements, Citayam Station with 11,465,614 movements, and Bekasi Station with 11,425,878 movements. These figures underscore Bogor Station’s role as a primary hub for daily KRL commuters and highlight the Bogor Line’s critical function in the mobility of the Jakarta metropolitan area’s buffer zones.

KAI Vice President Corporate Communication Anne Purba stated that Bogor Station’s position as the station with the highest passenger volume provides a crucial basis for accelerating service capacity improvements. “Bogor Station served the highest KRL passenger movements throughout the first half of 2026. Therefore, the development of platforms 6, 7, and 8 is an essential part of preparing greater service capacity, particularly to support the operation of 12-carriage KRL Commuter Line trainsets or SF12,” Anne said.

Monthly passenger movement data at Bogor Station showed 3,045,950 in January, 2,665,471 in February, 3,248,710 in March, 3,139,775 in April, 3,151,673 in May, and 3,199,883 in June 2026. This volume demonstrates that Bogor Station consistently served as the main mobility centre for KRL passengers throughout the first half of 2026.

Anne explained that the Bogor Line is one of the primary KRL Commuter Line routes, serving communities from Bogor, Cilebut, Bojonggede, Citayam, Depok, to Jakarta. In addition to Bogor Station ranking first, Citayam Station also placed in the top five, while Depok Baru, Bojonggede, Cilebut, and Depok stations were among those with high passenger movements. This data reinforces the need to increase service capacity on the Bogor Line.

“The Bogor Line is one of the main choices for daily travel. With the readiness of SF12, service capacity per journey can increase and the boarding and alighting process at Bogor Station can be more organised,” Anne said.

Construction work has now entered the finishing stage, with operational testing being conducted in parallel. The platform development for lines 6, 7, and 8, which began on 15 April 2026, is targeted for total completion by 15 July 2026. The development includes preparatory works, structural and architectural works, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations, track works, and overhead catenary systems. KAI is also installing overcapping or canopies in the platform area to enhance passenger comfort while waiting for trains, including during hot and rainy weather.

As part of the completion process, KAI conducted a load test using a locomotive on 29 June 2026, followed by a KRL operational trial on 1 July 2026. These stages are carried out to ensure safety readiness and infrastructure quality before optimal use. Throughout the construction process, KAI and KAI Commuter continue to coordinate to ensure that passenger services remain safe, orderly, and smooth. KAI, together with the Directorate General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation, is also preparing to strengthen connectivity between Bogor Station and Bogor Paledang Station to facilitate easier passenger transfers.
