PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is accelerating service capacity\nupgrades at Bogor Station through the development of platforms 6, 7, and\n8. The project is being prepared to support the operation of 12-carriage\nKRL Commuter Line trainsets, known as SF12, on the Bogor Line,\nresponding to the high mobility needs of residents travelling from Bogor\nand its surrounding buffer zones to Jakarta.<\/p>\n
According to KAI data for the first half of 2026, Bogor Station\nrecorded the highest passenger movements among all stations serving the\nJabodetabek KRL Commuter Line. From January to June 2026, the station\nregistered 18,451,462 passenger movements, comprising 9,371,410 gate-in\nand 9,080,405 gate-out transactions. The average daily passenger\nmovement at Bogor Station reached approximately 101,942.<\/p>\n
In the ranking of the top five stations by KRL passenger volume for\nthe first half of 2026, Bogor Station led with 18,451,462 movements. It\nwas followed by Tanah Abang Station with 17,291,480 movements, Sudirman\nStation with 13,078,339 movements, Citayam Station with 11,465,614\nmovements, and Bekasi Station with 11,425,878 movements. These figures\nunderscore Bogor Station\u2019s role as a primary hub for daily KRL commuters\nand highlight the Bogor Line\u2019s critical function in the mobility of the\nJakarta metropolitan area\u2019s buffer zones.<\/p>\n
KAI Vice President Corporate Communication Anne Purba stated that\nBogor Station\u2019s position as the station with the highest passenger\nvolume provides a crucial basis for accelerating service capacity\nimprovements. \u201cBogor Station served the highest KRL passenger movements\nthroughout the first half of 2026. Therefore, the development of\nplatforms 6, 7, and 8 is an essential part of preparing greater service\ncapacity, particularly to support the operation of 12-carriage KRL\nCommuter Line trainsets or SF12,\u201d Anne said.<\/p>\n
Monthly passenger movement data at Bogor Station showed 3,045,950 in\nJanuary, 2,665,471 in February, 3,248,710 in March, 3,139,775 in April,\n3,151,673 in May, and 3,199,883 in June 2026. This volume demonstrates\nthat Bogor Station consistently served as the main mobility centre for\nKRL passengers throughout the first half of 2026.<\/p>\n
Anne explained that the Bogor Line is one of the primary KRL Commuter\nLine routes, serving communities from Bogor, Cilebut, Bojonggede,\nCitayam, Depok, to Jakarta. In addition to Bogor Station ranking first,\nCitayam Station also placed in the top five, while Depok Baru,\nBojonggede, Cilebut, and Depok stations were among those with high\npassenger movements. This data reinforces the need to increase service\ncapacity on the Bogor Line.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Bogor Line is one of the main choices for daily travel. With the\nreadiness of SF12, service capacity per journey can increase and the\nboarding and alighting process at Bogor Station can be more organised,\u201d\nAnne said.<\/p>\n
Construction work has now entered the finishing stage, with\noperational testing being conducted in parallel. The platform\ndevelopment for lines 6, 7, and 8, which began on 15 April 2026, is\ntargeted for total completion by 15 July 2026. The development includes\npreparatory works, structural and architectural works, mechanical,\nelectrical, and plumbing installations, track works, and overhead\ncatenary systems. KAI is also installing overcapping or canopies in the\nplatform area to enhance passenger comfort while waiting for trains,\nincluding during hot and rainy weather.<\/p>\n
As part of the completion process, KAI conducted a load test using a\nlocomotive on 29 June 2026, followed by a KRL operational trial on 1\nJuly 2026. These stages are carried out to ensure safety readiness and\ninfrastructure quality before optimal use. Throughout the construction\nprocess, KAI and KAI Commuter continue to coordinate to ensure that\npassenger services remain safe, orderly, and smooth.
