Bogor Palace to be opened to the public

BOGOR (JP): To celebrate its 519th anniversary that falls on June 3, Bogor will host Bogor Festival II featuring various activities to attract more visitors to the rain-drenched city.

As part of the celebration, the Bogor administration will open the Bogor presidential palace to the public from May 28 through to June 7.

In addition, the administration will lift the admission fee to the Bogor botanical gardens, where the palace is located, thus people would be free to enter the gardens and the palace without paying anything during the period.

The chairman of the festival's steering committee, Gatut Susanto said the festival would also feature Bogor Expo, a bird singing competition, fishing competition and the people's fiesta.

Gatut said that the people's fiesta would be held at the Bogor legislative council's compound and traditional Bogor foods would be provided free of charge to visitors.

But visitors coming in groups must report to the committee's office in the Pedjajaran sporting hall to get the tickets for the free foods.

He said that the committee would need a total of Rp 600 million to host those activities, but so far had collected only Rp 31 million. (21)
