Bogor Immigration Deports 13 Japanese Nationals Involved in Scamming
Bogor (ANTARA) - The Bogor Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office has deported 13 Japanese nationals suspected of involvement in online scamming practices as an effort to prevent Indonesia from being used as a base for cross-border crime.
Head of the Bogor Immigration Office, Ritus Ramadhana, stated in Bogor, West Java, on Thursday, that the deportation action is a follow-up to the monitoring of suspicious activities in the Sentul area, Babakanmadang, Bogor Regency.
“Officers conducted an inspection on the night of 2 March 2026 after monitoring indications of suspicious activities in the field,” said Ritus.
Evidence seized included items resembling Japanese police identification, communication devices such as mobile phones and computers, as well as signal boosters and jammers.
Based on the examination results, the group is suspected of running an online scamming operation targeting Japanese citizens from Indonesia by exploiting communication technology.
He emphasised that supervision of foreigners will continue to be tightened to ensure compliance with Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration.
Meanwhile, Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko affirmed that the deportation and blacklisting represent the government’s commitment to upholding legal sovereignty and national security.
“We do not tolerate the misuse of residence permits, especially for criminal acts. Indonesia must not be made a base for transnational crime,” he said.
Prior to deportation, the 13 Japanese nationals were placed in the Jakarta Immigration Detention House and have now been added to the blacklist to prevent them from re-entering Indonesian territory.
