Bogor Immigration Arrests 13 Japanese Nationals in Online Fraud Syndicate
Bogor, West Java – The Intelligence and Enforcement Division of the Bogor Class I Immigration Office (Non-TPI) arrested 13 foreign nationals in three locations in Sentul City, Babakan Madang, Bogor Regency, on Tuesday (2 March). The detainees were identified as Japanese nationals suspected of participating in organised online fraud schemes. One of them, identified by initials SL, entered Indonesia on a visa on arrival (VoA), while the remaining 12 held visit visas or D-12 permits intended for pre-investment activities: TY, TM, AO, MM, TA, SN, KN, TS, ST, SK, NK and TO.
Brigadier General Yuldi Yusman, Acting Director General of Immigration, said that the operation by the Bogor Immigration Office on 2 March 2026 was part of immigration enforcement aimed at enforcing selectivity policy, which allows entry and residence only for foreigners who provide benefits to the country and do not threaten security or public order. The authorities will subject the suspects and their networks to immigration sanctions or legal proceedings under applicable laws, and the Immigration Directorate General will coordinate with the Japanese embassy in Indonesia.
“We, the Dirjen Imigrasi, are committed to strengthening immigration law enforcement and to prosecuting violators to maintain security and order in society,” Yusman said at a press conference at the Bogor Immigration Office on Jl Ahmad Yani in Bogor on Wednesday (4/3).
The article also reported that the syndicate allegedly wore Japanese police uniforms and used fake radio voices to drain victims’ accounts.
