Bogor City Government Mandates Traders to Move to Official Markets
Bogor City (ANTARA) - The Bogor City Government, West Java, mandates that all trading activities be conducted within official markets as part of regulating street vendors (PKL) in the former Bogor Market and Bogor Plaza areas. Bogor Mayor Dedie A Rachim in Bogor on Wednesday emphasised that the policy applies to traders still selling along Jalan Roda, Pedati, Bata, and Lawang Seketeng, in line with the ongoing area redevelopment. Dedie stated that the Bogor City Government has prepared two relocation sites, namely Pasar Jambu Dua and Pasar Gembrong Sukasari, which are deemed to have sufficient capacity to accommodate community trading activities. “The Bogor City Government has built two markets with adequate capacity. Pasar Gembrong for around 600 traders and Pasar Jambu Dua for around 1,200 traders,” said Dedie. He emphasised that both markets will be optimal if all buying and selling activities are centralised within the markets and no longer conducted on the road body. “In the future, Bogor City will not allow people to sell at PKL stalls again. All businesses must be conducted within the markets,” he said. According to Dedie, the optimisation of Pasar Jambu Dua and Pasar Gembrong is also part of efforts to protect investments made through cooperation between the Bogor City Government and Perumda Pasar Pakuan Jaya. He mentioned that to date, around 400 traders have occupied both markets, either from relocations or traders who previously sold at those locations. Furthermore, Dedie conveyed that the redevelopment of the former Bogor Market and Bogor Plaza areas is being carried out in stages according to agreements that have been socialised to the traders. “According to the agreement, activities at PKL stalls will end on 26 March or post-Eid,” he said. After that deadline, he continued, PKL activities will no longer be permitted in the Jalan Roda, Jalan Pedati, Jalan Bata, and Jalan Lawang Seketeng areas, except for those selling in official kiosks or shop houses. The Bogor City Government will also impose sanctions in accordance with the Regional Regulation on Public Order for traders who violate the provisions. Dedie added that the area redevelopment is not only taking place in the former Bogor Market but will continue to several other streets such as Jalan Dewi Sartika, Jalan Merdeka, and Jalan MA Salmun. He invited the community to utilise the provided market facilities so that economic activities run more orderly and organised. “Please utilise the two markets that we have prepared. In the future, the Bogor Market and Bogor Plaza areas will be redeveloped to be more orderly,” said Dedie.
