The Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Ditjen Migas) under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is finalising plans for laboratory testing of Bobibos fuel. This product has been developed by PT Inti Sinergi Formula.

“This summons is a follow-up to the initial meeting on 14 April, to finalise laboratory testing plans and ensure product standardisation and classification before it is marketed or used widely,” said Director of Technical and Environmental Oil and Gas Noor Arifin Muhammad in an official statement in Jakarta on Saturday (25/4/2026).

Ditjen Migas has requested that the producer promptly complete the testing. The government aims to confirm the product’s position, whether it falls under vegetable fuel or petroleum fuel.

“In detail, the technical testing will be fully conducted by Lemigas. We ask Bobibos to proactively follow up on these technical steps to ensure the process is accountable,” said Noor.

The initial testing covers basic fuel characteristics. Aspects tested include physical and chemical properties, stability, engine compatibility, and ignition quality.

“In the initial stage, the testing will cover various important aspects, such as physical and chemical properties, stability, compatibility with engines, ease of flow, ignition quality, and corrosion levels,” said Iklas.

The testing also targets performance. Tests will be conducted on exhaust gas emissions, engine durability, and combustion residue formation.

The Lemigas team will take samples from storage tanks at several points. This process uses certified containers and is accompanied by inspection minutes.

“From this, it will be determined which category of fuel Bobibos falls into, whether existing or a new type, and then its parameters will be set,” he said.

The results of the entire series of tests will serve as the basis for the government’s technical assessment. This data will also be used for further research and energy policy directions.

The initial testing follows the international ASTM D4057 standard. This standard is used for fuel sampling.
