The National Border Management Agency (BNPP) of the Republic of Indonesia plans to inaugurate the Temajuk Border Crossing Post (PLB) in Sambas District, West Kalimantan, which shares a direct border with Malaysia.

This was stated by BNPP Secretary Makhruzi Rahman during a direct inspection of the Temajuk PLB area on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. The inspection was conducted to ensure facility readiness and infrastructure support before the Temajuk PLB is inaugurated and operated fully.

Makhruzi stated that the Temajuk PLB is scheduled for inauguration in mid-2026 because it must await the completion of road access development to the Temajuk area, which is still undergoing repairs. He noted that the Ministry of Public Works’ Road Division is currently repairing the Teluk Atong–Temajuk road section, approximately 1.3 kilometres long.

Completion of this road access is considered essential to ensure optimal mobility for residents, personnel, and logistics activities to the PLB area. According to Makhruzi, the physical construction of the Temajuk PLB has been fully completed. However, several supporting works remain to be completed before operations commence.

“The readiness of these supporting facilities is important so that PLB operations can run orderly in accordance with cross-border service standards,” Makhruzi stated.

He further explained that the reopening of the Indonesia-Malaysia crossing route (Temajuk–Telok Melano) will be conducted after the road access development is completed. The activation of this route refers to the agreement in the 2023 Border Crossing Agreement (BCA) between Indonesia and Malaysia.

He added that service facilities in the Temajuk PLB area have also been prepared to support the operations of relevant agencies, including immigration services, customs, and quarantine services covering health and animal and plant quarantine.

In its operations, BNPP will also facilitate cross-agency personnel mobilisation whilst managing the Temajuk PLB, which is planned to become a State Border Crossing Post (PLBN) with Type D typology.
