BNPP Promotes Decent Housing to Improve Community Quality of Life
INFO TEMPO — The National Border Management Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BNPP RI) views housing programmes as an essential foundation for improving societal welfare, including in border areas. Therefore, housing development is not only focused on physical aspects but also on enhancing the quality of life for the community.
“In this highly strategic moment, the project at Pesona Kahuripan 12 is not merely physical construction but a realisation of dignity for low-income communities to own decent, safe, and quality housing,” said BNPP RI Secretary Komjen Pol. Makhruzi Rahman, representing Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian as Head of BNPP RI, during the Launching of the Gentengisasi Programme along with the Key Handover and Mass Agreement for Subsidised Houses in the Pesona Kahuripan 12 area, Cileungsi Subdistrict, Bogor Regency, on Sunday, 12 April 2026.
Makhruzi stated that this activity is part of the government’s support for the 3 Million Houses Programme initiated by President Prabowo Subianto to provide decent and affordable housing for low-income communities (MBR). He also appreciated the innovation of the Gentengisasi Programme, which is seen as capable of driving people’s economy. According to him, the involvement of local UMKM as providers of building materials is a concrete example of development synergy that directly impacts the surrounding community.
“We greatly appreciate the innovation of the Gentengisasi Programme. This is proof that the housing sector can simultaneously drive local economic growth,” said Komjen Pol. Makhruzi.
He further emphasised that housing affairs are a basic service that is the government’s obligation. In line with this, the Ministry of Home Affairs together with BNPP RI is committed to strengthening collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Public Settlements (PKP) to ensure that housing programmes run optimally and sustainably.
The three strategic points of this collaboration are accelerating permits in the regions so that subsidised housing development is not hindered, optimising the utilisation of regional government land assets for people’s housing areas, and developing housing in border areas through synergy between BNPP RI and the Ministry of PKP. “Through BNPP, we ensure that communities in the front porch of the Republic of Indonesia also gain access to decent housing as part of strengthening the country’s border areas,” he said.
On that occasion, Komjen Pol. Makhruzi Rahman also delivered a message to the 300 beneficiary families of the mass subsidised house agreement. According to him, a house is the starting point for a better life. “The mass agreement moment today is the beginning of a brighter future. A house is the first madrasah, the place for nurturing the nation’s golden generation,” he said.
The BNPP RI Secretary also welcomed the launch of the Gentengisasi Programme and the mass agreement procession. He hopes that the synergy of all stakeholders can continue to be strengthened to realise decent housing for the wider community. “May the hard work of all involved stakeholders become ongoing charity and provide the greatest benefit for the nation and state.”
