BNPB Says Services Remain Fully Operational Amid KPK Sting Reports
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has stressed that all public services and the agency’s operations are continuing as normal and at full capacity amid reports of a sting operation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Berton SP Panjaitan, acting head of BNPB’s Disaster Data, Information and Communication Centre, told reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday evening that he could not comment further because he did not yet know the details of the reports.
“We cannot make any statement because we do not know anything yet. What is certain is that there was no sting operation at BNPB’s office from morning until midday, and we continued providing services as usual,” Berton said.
Earlier, the KPK confirmed that it had carried out its 22nd sting operation of 2026, in connection with the BNPB.
According to Setyo, the KPK’s enforcement team had detained several people in the operation, and they were being questioned further.
The KPK has not disclosed the identities of those detained or provided a list of the people caught up in the operation. It said an official explanation would be delivered by KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo.
“As for the details of who has been detained, the KPK spokesperson will provide an explanation later,” he said.
