BNN: Hipakad is a strategic partner to expand drug prevention outreach
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s National Narcotics Agency (BNN) considers the Association of Sons and Daughters of Army Families (Hipakad) a strategic partner in expanding the reach of drug prevention programmes during an audience in Jakarta on Tuesday (14/4). BNN’s Secretary General Tantan Sulistyana revealed that based on current research, 4.1 million productive-age citizens are exposed to narcotics, necessitating cross-sector collaborative efforts to strengthen community and family resilience as the primary bulwark. “We view Hipakad as a strategic organisation for reinforcing family and community resilience,” Tantan stated during the audience, as quoted from a confirmed statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. Accordingly, he hopes Hipakad can contribute actively by encouraging its members to become agents of change as well as facilitators of Prevention and Eradication of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN) in various regions. P4GN aims to shield society from the risks of narcotic abuse and addiction to safeguard the future of the younger generation. P4GN emphasises that addressing narcotics is not solely the duty of law enforcement agencies but a shared responsibility of all national elements. Furthermore, Hipakad is expected to build a strong information network to support early detection of illicit narcotic trafficking within communities. Meanwhile, Hipakad Chairman Hari Hara Tambunan conveyed his organisation’s commitment to synergising with BNN in educating and raising awareness about the dangers of narcotics among students and university students. He even hopes to solidify this commitment through a joint memorandum of understanding with BNN. “We intend to collaborate with BNN to conduct outreach to schools and campuses in various regions and hope this cooperation can be formalised through a memorandum of understanding,” Hari stated on the same occasion. Hipakad is a community organisation that unites children from the extended TNI AD family (active and retired soldiers) as well as civilians within the TNI AD environment.
