BNI Strengthens Anti-Phishing Education Through the PERIKSA Secure Guide for Corporate Customers
PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, is strengthening digital transaction security education for corporate customers through a secure steps guide titled PERIKSA. This initiative aims to heighten awareness of cybercrime risks, particularly phishing, which is increasingly prevalent amid the rise in digital transaction activities. BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that this education is part of the company’s commitment to safeguarding the security and comfort of customers, especially users of the BNIdirect service. “Phishing is an attempt to steal sensitive data such as user IDs, passwords, or PINs through fake messages or links that mimic official communications. The data obtained by perpetrators is then used to access accounts and conduct transactions without the customer’s knowledge,” said Okki. He explained that through the PERIKSA guide, BNI not only provides a secure system but also promotes improved digital literacy among customers to make them more vigilant in transacting. The PERIKSA guide covers several preventive steps. First, Ensure Use of Official Emails to avoid potential phishing or malware. Second, Explore Unique and Strong Passwords with complex character combinations and regular updates. Next, customers are urged to Keep Account Information Confidential, such as Company ID, user ID, or password. BNI also reminds the importance of using personal devices (Individual and Device) and avoiding public Wi-Fi networks that pose risks. Regarding service access, customers are advised to Visit the Official BNIdirect Address to avoid fake sites that imitate banking service appearances. If assistance is needed, customers can contact the Service Action Team (SAT) through the official channels provided. Finally, customers are asked to Observe Transaction Details before authorisation to ensure no errors or potential misuse occur. Okki emphasised that digital transaction security does not solely depend on the system but also on users’ awareness in protecting their data and financial activities. “BNI encourages all customers to actively participate in safeguarding transaction security. With high vigilance and the use of official channels, a safe and trusted digital banking ecosystem can be realised,” he said. BNI affirms it will continue to strengthen security systems and conduct ongoing education to address the increasingly complex developments in cybercrime methods. Educational steps like PERIKSA are an important part of building a secure digital transaction culture, where collaboration between the bank and customers is key to maintaining trust and the sustainability of the digital financial ecosystem.
