BNI Introduces PERIKSA Guide to Help Customers Beware of Cybercrime
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, has introduced a guide titled “PERIKSA” to boost customer awareness of cybercrime risks, especially phishing, which is increasingly prevalent amid the rise in digital transaction activities.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that this education forms part of the company’s commitment to safeguarding customer security and comfort, particularly for users of BNIdirect services.
“Phishing involves attempts to steal sensitive data such as user IDs, passwords, or PINs through fake messages or links mimicking official communications. The data obtained by perpetrators is then used to access accounts and conduct transactions without the customer’s knowledge,” said Okki in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Through the PERIKSA guide, Okki explained that BNI not only provides secure systems but also promotes enhanced digital literacy among customers to make them more cautious in their transactions.
The PERIKSA guide encompasses several preventive steps, starting with “Use Official Emails” to avoid potential phishing or malware.
The next step is “Explore Unique and Strong Passwords” using complex character combinations and regular updates.
Customers are then advised to “Keep Account Information Confidential,” such as Company IDs, user IDs, or passwords. BNI also reminds the importance of using personal devices and avoiding noisy public Wi-Fi networks.
Regarding service access, customers are encouraged to “Visit the Official BNIdirect Address” to avoid fake sites that imitate banking service appearances. If assistance is needed, customers can contact the Service Action Team (SAT) through the provided official channels.
Finally, customers are urged to “Observe Transaction Details” before authorisation to ensure no errors or potential misuse occur.
Okki emphasised that digital transaction security does not solely depend on systems but also on users’ awareness in protecting their data and financial activities.
“BNI encourages all customers to actively safeguard transaction security. With high vigilance and the use of official channels, a safe and trusted digital banking ecosystem can be realised,” said Okki.
The company also stated it will continue to strengthen security systems and conduct ongoing education to address the increasingly complex developments in cybercrime methods.
