BNI Emphasises the Importance of Data Protection in the Era of Digital Transactions
In the midst of increasing use of digital services, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI is urging customers to enhance their alertness towards various potential cybercrimes that are becoming more prevalent alongside the rise in digital transaction activities, especially through the BNIdirect service. Customers are reminded not to share sensitive data with anyone, such as account information, Company ID (CID), user ID, password, token code, as well as registered email addresses and phone numbers. Customers are also advised to increase caution towards suspicious links. This is an important step to avoid the risks of digital fraud. BNI is also educating customers to use strong passwords and update them regularly, as well as to avoid using public WiFi networks when transacting. These simple steps are considered effective in minimising the potential misuse of data by unauthorised parties. BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo emphasised that personal data protection is the main foundation in maintaining the security of digital banking transactions. According to him, data breaches not only impact the confidentiality of information but also risk causing financial losses and damaging customers’ reputations. “Personal data protection becomes the main foundation in ensuring every transaction runs safely and comfortably. By safeguarding data security, customers can minimise various cybercrime risks, such as hacking, malware, and phishing,” said Okki. He emphasised that digital transaction security is a shared responsibility between the bank and customers. Through the implementation of preventive measures and increased digital literacy, BNI hopes customers can transact more safely, comfortably, and free from various cybercrime risks.
