Denpasar (ANTARA) – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BBMKG) Region III Denpasar has issued an early warning of high waves in the southern waters of Bali, expected to reach up to five metres.

“We urge caution regarding the potential for heavy rain that may be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in parts of Bali,” said Ariantika, a forecaster for BBMKG Region III in Denpasar, on Thursday.

BBMKG Denpasar explained that the potential for strong winds in the northern and southern waters of Bali is forecast to reach up to 40 knots or around 74 kilometres per hour, moving from the southwest to the west-southwest direction between 3-6 March 2026.

Meanwhile, on Thursday Bali is forecast to experience light rain with wind speeds of up to 48 kilometres per hour.

Furthermore, on 5 March, BBMKG Denpasar also issued an early warning of strong winds in Badung, Denpasar, Jembrana, Tabanan and Klungkung. Then on 6 March, strong winds are forecast in Badung, Jembrana, Denpasar and Buleleng.

On 7-8 March 2026, he said, strong winds are forecast to occur in Badung and Karangasem.

BBMKG Denpasar explained that wind and sea conditions pose risks to navigation.

Ferry operators are advised to watch for wind speeds of up to 21 knots and wave heights of up to 2.5 metres. Next, barge operators are advised to exercise caution when wind speeds reach 16 knots and wave heights reach 1.5 metres.

Meanwhile, BMKG via Info BMKG updated on Thursday states that the weather conditions are influenced by a series of cyclonic seeds 90S located in the southern Indian Ocean near the Banten-West Java region.

The cyclonic seed is moderately likely to develop into a tropical cyclone and move eastwards in the next 24 hours.

In addition, there is cyclonic seed 93S off the northwest coast of Australia with a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone and moving westwards in the next 24 hours.

Cyclonic seed 92P has also been detected in the Gulf of Carpentaria, south of South Papua, quite far from Bali, but its movement should be watched.
