BMKG forecasts rain across most of Indonesia on Tuesday
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts that most of Indonesia will be drenched by rain on Tuesday. BMKG forecaster Yuyun, speaking on a YouTube channel monitored from Jakarta, said that beginning with the Sumatra region, the cities of Banda Aceh, Pangkal Pinang and Jambi are forecast to be overcast, while Medan, Pekanbaru, Bengkulu, Palembang and Jakarta have the potential to be hit by light rain. “Bandar Lampung is forecast to experience smoke or fog, while Padang has the potential for thunderous rain. Also be alert for thunderous rain that may strike Tanjung Pinang,” she said. Moving to Java, the weather in Bandung is forecast to be cloudy, while Serang will be overcast. The Semarang and Surabaya areas are forecast to receive light rain, while Yogyakarta is expected to be partly cloudy. For the Kalimantan region, the weather in Pontianak, Palangkaraya, Samarinda and Banjarmasin is forecast to be light rain, while Tanjung Selor has the potential for thunderous rain. For Sulawesi, the weather in Palu, Gorontalo, Kendari, Makassar and Manado is forecast to be light rain. Meanwhile, for the Maluku and North Maluku regions, Ternate and Ambon are forecast to be drenched by light rain. Shifting to Papua, Jayawijaya and Merauke are forecast to be cloudy, while light rain has the potential to drench Sorong, Manokwari, Nabire, Jayapura and Kupang. BMKG also reminded the public to be on alert for the potential of heavy to very heavy rain in North Sumatra, West Sulawesi and North Maluku. In addition, a number of other regions in Indonesia are on watch status for the potential of moderate to heavy intensity rain.
