BMKG: Alert for potential extreme weather across much of Bali 2-8 March
The BMKG Regional Centre III in Denpasar has identified the potential for extreme weather in Bali forecast for 2-8 March 2026.
“We have identified significant developments in atmospheric dynamics that could increase rainfall intensity across most of Bali,” said Head of BMKG Regional Centre III Cahyo Nugroho in Denpasar on Monday.
Based on atmospheric dynamics analysis, an air mass convergence pattern has formed around the Bali region, whilst the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) is active in Phase IV or Maritime Continent phase, which can make a significant contribution to the formation of rain clouds.
These conditions are also augmented by Rossby and Kelvin equatorial waves, which are predicted to traverse the Bali region in the coming days.
As a result, heavy to very heavy rainfall and strong winds are forecast to occur in Badung Regency, Denpasar, Tabanan, Jembrana, Bangli, Gianyar, Karangasem, Klungkung, and Buleleng. These areas are at risk of flooding, flash floods, and landslides, depending on the vulnerability level of each region.
The agency has urged the public to remain calm but vigilant and take anticipatory measures so that daily activities can proceed safely and smoothly. Cahyo advised residents to monitor the latest information from BMKG through social media @infobmkg and @bmkgbali, or by calling (0361)751122.
